Locks of Laissez-Faire

Man, it never fails. I wore my hair down twice this month and both times strangers hit me up about Locks of Love. Fortunately neither one was pushy or irate this time, but it gets tiresome. I don't go up to people in the ATM line and ask them to toss their withdrawals in the March of Dimes jar, because it would be intrusive. Oh well, there are worse crosses to bear.

In other news, my bike is back from the shop, and it has a rearview mirror and ergonomic handgrips. Too cool.

Can I Borrow Your Dagger For A Sec?

Phobia be damned! I've just had my first haircut since grade school. Five inches gone, gone into the night. Practically bald now!

It was scary, but the deed had to be done. The scraggle-monster got into the ends and it went bad, so I lopped it off with a chainsaw pair of office scissors. Before, it was just past my knees, and now it only goes to mid-thigh. GASP! I could join the Marines!

On the bright side, I bet I could ride my bike with it down and not fear being scalped by the back wheel. That's something to look forward to.

It ended up lopsided so Rah evened it out for me, taking off a bit more while she was at it. Then I gave her a trim of her own to repay. It wasn't that bad a job for my first attempt at a haircut on another human being. Not completely even, but she can't see that so it's all good. I wisely didn't tell her about the bald spot. Muahaha. Let her find out on her own. As for me, I'm away laughing on a fast camel.

The house has declared victory in the war against split ends.

Doing what he does best, I guess...

These delightful little fellas have started a day care on the wall lining a local sidewalk.

This right here? This is why I will never have children.

My hair did this after I dyed it yesterday. I struggle to understand the connotations.

Still dead scanner. Still no bike. Somebody said they had a lead on a new one but I think I deleted their post by accident when I was removing entries regarding Fight Club. Shit, I'm sorry about that. I am very interested! The dog and I both grow fleshier and walkies fail to satisfy.

Shrink tomorrow afternoon. Can afford it because people, they are amazing.

Sentences deteriorating. Lolcat ray suspected. I can has bedtime?

AVATAR IS OVER WHUT WHUT

SHIT the Avatar finale has been aired already!?

In that case, consider me totally AFK til I get caught up, and I suggest the rest of you who've been waiting do the same. In my personal experience, only Zim (closely followed by Harry Potter) have ever managed to beat out Avatar for sheer quantity of blabbery, psychotic hordes of fangirls ruining everything they touch.

This is a perfect time, too. Sunday = my day off. Also I need to sit still while my hair bleaches and then takes the dye. PRAISE THE LORD! MY SCALP HAS FINALLY HEALED ENOUGH TO RETOUCH THE COLORS!

Photo Post Mar/2008

Thing One: It shot up to 55 degrees f yesterday! I was outside in my t-shirt and enjoying the sunshine. Went for a walk at the riverside and found boulders of ice piled up in heaps from the river-bottom construction work.

Thing Two: I put a protest party hat on the Captain so he can celebrate L. Wrong Hubbard's birthday a few days early. He can't come to the real party so I thought I would cheer him up. I don't think it worked :(

Thing Three: HAHAHA I FOUND MY HAIR-DYE. AND IT DIDN'T GET RUINED BY THE COLD!

Reference for myself, in case I ever lose or need to replace the colors in the future:

V-Manic Panic "Plum" (perfect)
R-Manic Panic "Wildfire" (perfect)
O-N/A (Mix of R and Y, perfect)
Y-Manic Panic "Electric Banana*" (might try another less green shade)
G-Special Effects "Iguana Green" (perfect)
B-Special Effects "Electric Blue" (a bit too dark)

I want to see if I can find a slightly brighter blue next time. Electric stays in for ages but it's dark as hell at first. "Blue Mayhem" looks good.

Dog park update: the total of people who have complained in my presence about the chocolate lab's owners is now up to 4. All of them share my perceptions on the problem behavior, and one actually told me the owners aggressively refused to take their dog to the smaller "can't play nice" section of the park even after the lab bit another dog.

Time to email the website for the park and find out what step 2 is, I reckon. I assume somebody with authority and a sharp tongue will need to call them.

The guy with the Great Dane showed up again. That dog is such a fucking trip! Its slow-motion frolicking strikes awe into my heart every time I see it. It's like watching a giraffe try to tap-dance. Itchy dog, too. I scratched his rump a few times and he leaned on me and shimmied from side to side like a lunatic.

Game news: One Piece Unlimited Adventure is amazing, fantastic and a total blast--but it has FUCKED UP MY WRISTS SO BAD. why do all the coolest attacks require you to flail around with the WII-ener? I think I need to take a few days off to let the braces fix the damage.

And of course, this week's update will be late. It can't be helped; I've been enlisted to make ten signs (Four four us, six spares for the folks who made their own with ballpoint pens and wrinkled notebook paper)), and the big day is Saturday. I'll be swamped til then. All signs point to a more eventful protest--the Cult of Scientology has been trying unsuccessfully to get a restraining order against Anonymous so they can't protest on the public street in Clearwater!

Dude, Wacom has a tablet with a screen display!

One of the biggest problems I have with tablet art is that I have never gotten good at drawing while looking somewhere else than the hand itself. Inking is a chore, so I've kept my tablet shenanigans more or less to a minimum as a result. I'm definitely interested in trying it out.

Brand new with warranty, the small version is still a shade under $1k on eBay, so I've got some saving up to do before I can experience the glory for myself.

Oh, and I bleached my hair:

Hair Post #9

The wooden hairsticks I ordered arrived today! They're pretty plain but they get the job done and can be decorated when I have more time. I only need one for the basic bun I usually wear. I decided to take pictures before bed:

I had no idea the bun was so big*. My hair tapers like whoa thanks to my tendency to chop off bangs and undercut the back, and it feels a lot smaller when I'm putting it up. Looking at the pic, I am amazed yet again that one little wooden stick can hold it all up there like that. It's like I'm a warlock.

Also, I can see it's past due time to re-henna. The length now appears to be permanently red, but the roots have grown out a lot since April. I'm also done growing out the bleach damage to give the front a rest. It'll be time for more rainbow action in a week or two, depending on when I can get the bleach.

*Now now, it's no use giggling over the size or abnormal number of buns on a Luka. everyone in the house already did that when I went around showing it off, and I am now immune. Na-ha!

Not A Very Exciting Post, I'm Afraid

My hair is down to my knees and I'm starting to get a bit afraid. My arms are just too damned short to brush all the way to the ends anymore! I think it might be time to look for a new, longer-handled brush, and cross my fingers that it'll be good enough. It was breaking off as fast as it grew for the past ten years before i started taking care of it, and now I'm starting to worry that I'll wind up playing the lead role in the Broadway production of the Peanut Butter Solution.

Using my home-mixed conditioner has an interesting side-effect: it's made my hair rather water-resistant. I was in the shower for ten minutes just letting it saturate to the ends, and everything under the top layer was still bone-dry. I have to kind of skwoosh it to get the water through. I'm like some kind of freakish otter. A freakish, shiny otter.

I'm bored, so it's off to the gym again for me! Then back home to pencil away at the last page of this week's update. It's three pages this week, with a pretty good amount already working toward next week's count. Nice!
