Who Needs Fingers Anyway?

Today would be a perfect day to throw a pan of boiling water into the air and watch it instantly vaporize into a cloud of snow. Maybe I could record a video and put the controversy to rest for good.

I AM THE KAYAK KING

Rah and I went kayaking yesterday. It was an epic 6 hour trip, and much fun was had. I brought a camera, which mercifully did not get drowned when I fell out of the boat for the third or fourth time and ended up swimming.

Ten below! TEN BELOW ZERO! I went out to bring the dog in and my hands were steaming. I'd just washed them and they were mostly dry, but... steam! Lots of it. And my fingers stuck to the doorknob.

Do I go to bed, or do I go throw water into the air and record a video of it poofing into a huge cloud of frozen vapor before a drop can hit the ground?

Ah yes. Bed. The wisest choice a man can make.

Last Night's Storm

Last night we had this badass electrical storm. My head was about to split from one of the nastiest headaches I can ever remember having. Two Excedrin took the edge off the pain enough that I could at least go storm-chasing.

The sky looked like this but all the spectacular and vivid strikes managed to dodge my camera.

Here are the two that did not get away:





I wish I had an actual video camera that could handle night filming without making everything grainy and wretched. More incentive to get financially stable, I reckon.

I'm still sitting on the July storm footage, but it'll be along as soon as I have a program that will join the files. VirtualDub thinks they're made of cancer.

GOD HATES MINNESOTA

My entire neighborhood looks like this! Only without the house.

Como Park got ass-raped but I didn't have my camera to take pictures. Huge old trees are down all over the place. The Maryland/Dale stoplights are STILL out. Sirens went by every five minutes from 4 to 8 am. Whole streets are blocked off by police tape due to trees in the road.

I haven't seen destruction like this since the October 1997 ice storm (and subsequent federal emergency) when I was living in N*braska.

Tomorrow I will strap on my new rollerblades and go take photographs of the destruction around town. Meanwhile, another storm is rolling in...
